Residents of Tel Aviv were caught between fire and water today. The lifeguards on the beach resumed a strike for higher wages that they had suspended a week ago. At the same time, the Tel Aviv fire brigade embarked on a partial strike.
The fire-fighters are answering alarms, but they have halted all paper work and will not respond to people who have lost their keys and call the fire department to open their doors. The firemen, like the lifeguards are demanding higher wages.
Dr. Moses Rosen celebrated this week in Bucharest the 25th anniversary of his nomination as Chief Rabbi of Rumania. Government officials and the heads of the various local. Christian churches joined in congratulating him. Rumanian vice-president Emil Bodnaras thanked him for his work “in promoting peace and understanding among the nations.” Dr. Rosen praised the Rumanian government for its-liberal attitude.
