A solemn mass to offer prayers for the thousands of persecuted Jews in France was held in the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills last Sunday, with Rev. Father Raphael Collard, Belgian-born missionary, officiating and with clergymen of all faiths cooperating.
Following the sermon, which bitterly condemned anti-Semitism as an anti-Christian manifestation, the hundreds of people of all faiths who were gathered in the church donated funds to the Hollywood chapter of the French War Relief to be used to aid the Jews in France. The mass, which was approved by Archbishop Cantwell of Los Angeles, was endorsed by Gov. Culbert L. Olson of California and Mayor Bowon of Los Angeles.
