Anti-Semitic deputies in the Sejm, lower house of the Polish Parliament, were reported today preparing to introduce a bill prohibiting residents of townships from moving to the larger cities.
Although the proposed bill does not mention Jews, fears have been aroused among Jews that it is aimed chiefly at them since pressure of economic circumstances is forcing them to move from townships to the larger centers.
Jewish circles consider the bill similar in intent to the old Czarist laws establishing “pales” for Jews.
