A bill to amend the present immigration act was introduced at the opening session of Congress by Congressman Perlman of New York. The bill provides for the exemption from the quota of wives, husbands, children, parents, brothers and sisters of citizens and declarants who were admitted to America prior to July 1st, 1924. Congressman Perlman also introduced a resolution to admit and exempt from the quota refugees stranded in European ports who hold American visas issued before July 1st and who were barred from entry because of the new law.
