The bombing of a church or synagogue, or other public building would be made punishable by death, under a bill introduced in the new Congress this weekend by Rep. Victor L. Anfuso.
The Brooklyn Democrat proposes to amend the U.S. Code so as to make bombings of public religious or other buildings, with an explosive transported in interstate commerce, a crime punishable by death. Present laws were considered too “soft” to deter potential criminals from carrying out their design–particularly after the bombing craze in the South last year.
