A bill to ban racial and religious discrimination in Britain, offered for the ninth successive year by Labor MP Fenner Brockway, was given its first reading last night in the House of Commons.
The three-part bill would deal with such bias in public places; in housing and against incitement of racial and religious prejudice. The MP said the portion to bar incitement had become urgent because of the resurgence of fascist propaganda in Britain and he urged the House to accept the measure in its entirety.
