Funeral services were held here today for Minister of Posts Binyamin Mintz, former Deputy Speaker of the Knesset and leader of the Poalei Agudat Israel party, who died in Tel Aviv last night at the age of 58 after a brief illness.
Born in Lodz, Poland, Mr. Mintz was a prominent Zionist leader, particularly active in religious circles. He was a journalist and a writer before his election to the Knesset in 1949. He was named Minister of Posts last year when his Poalei Agudat Israel faction split with the parent Agudat Israel party.
