Birmingham University will establish a fund for the creation of temporary research fellowships for scholars displaced by reason of race, religion and politics in accordance with a decision adopted at a meeting today of the most prominent citizens of this second largest British city.
A resolution was adopted at the meeting advocating creation of a trust fund for the preservation of science and learning. The Birmingham citizens promised to contribute 45,000 to the fund.
Sir Charles Robertson, vice chancellor of the University, condemned the anti-Jewish laws of the Third Reich, which “make the situation worse than the Spring of 1933.”
