Zionism was denounced by speakers addressing 5,000 persons at a celebration of the first anniversary of the autonomy of Biro-Bidjan, Tuesday night at Saint Nicholas Arena.

Speakers included Moissaye Olgin, Peretz Hirschbein and Professor Alfons Goldschmidt. S. Almazov, secretary of the ICOR, which sponsored the celebration, presided.

“Zionism is not a friend of the Jewish people,” declared Almazov. “It aims at Fascism.”

A message from Reuben Brainin was read while he stood on the stage. It denounced Zionists for anti-Biro-Bidjan propaganda and lauded the Jewish section of the Communist Party.

Greetings from Soviet Ambassador Alexander Troyanovsky hailed “the application to the members of the Jewish national minority who have wished to take advantage of the opportunity, of the same principles of autonomous development which have provided the solution of the national problems in the U. S. S. R.”
