An annual budget of 30,000,000 rubles for 1945 was adopted at the twelfth session of the executive committee of the Jewish Autonomcus legion of Biro-Bidjan, it was disclosed in a report made public here. This exceeds by 5,000,000 rubles the 1944 budget. Of the total amount for 1945, 74 percent was allowted for cultural activities.
Industrial enterprises in Biro-Bidjan exceeded their production quota in the first three months of this year, according to the report. State industrial enterprises fulfilled 111 percent of their quota, while local industry exceeded its quota by seven percent and the industrial cooperatives quota was nine percent overfulfilled. The textile mill with an annual capacity of more than 5,000,000 yards of cloth is being built and 7,000,000 rubles have been allocated for this project.
The report also reveals that during mining operations in the Sutarsk goldfields-which also exceeded their quota for the first three months of this year – two tasks and some bones of a mammoth were unearthed. This is the second valuable archaeological find to be discovered in the Sutarsk goldfields in recent months.
