It is a body-blow to essential freedom.

I realize the danger of intemperate pictures or books or papers. But the methods of censorship seem to me worse than the cure. Those genuinely interested in protecting the youth of the land against films unsuitable for their tender years, should rather advocate a segregation of adult and youth audiences. There is no reason why adult mental and psychological fare should be dished out to minors. There is even less reason why adults should be restricted to a mental diet intended only for minors.

In pre-Hitler Germany, this type of segregation proved successful. It encouraged pictures especially intended for youth. At the other end of the scale, it removed deleterious inhibitions in portraying genuine emotion and genuine problems for adult audiences.
