Jacob Blaustein, outstanding American Jewish leader, was presented this evening with the Herbert Lehman Israel Award at a dinner here sponsored by the Israel Bond Organization. The award, a plaque designed by the noted sculptor Chaim Gross, expresses the spirit of friendship and cooperation between the United States and Israel through the Israel bond program of which the late Governor Lehman was a supporter and leader.
Guest speaker at the dinner was Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister Abba Eban. The award was presented to Mr. Blaustein by Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman. Also taking part in the program were Governor J. Millard Tawes of Maryland and Baltimore Mayor Theodore R. McKeldin.
