A 10-foot model of a bronze sculpture given to the United Nations by the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Foundation, in memory of the late Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold, has been purchased by Jacob Blaustein and will be placed on display in the Blaustein Building in Baltimore, the United Nations announced today.
Mr. Blaustein, a former member of the United States delegation to the United Nations, was a close friend of Mr. Hammarskjold. The Baltimore industrialist had previously purchased a 21-foot bronze sculpture by a British artist, Barbara Hepworth, entitled “Single Form,” which symbolizes the “purity and idealism of Mr. Hammarskjold’s life and work.” The sculpture is to be placed on a plinth on the site of the ornamental pool facing the U. N. Secretariat building. Unveiling of the work is scheduled for next spring.
