Israel’s need for capital investments from private sources was emphasized here today by Jacob Blaustein, American Jewish leader, in a statement issued upon his return to the United States. Mr. Blaustein spent ten days in Israel during which he toured the country and had three long talks with Premier David Ben Gurion.
“In my trips in the Negev area,” he said, “I have seen the crying need for exploration of this area. I have become again aware of Israel’s need for more capital investments from abroad. Much of this capital must come from private sources.” Mr. Blaustein also expressed “admiration” for the “marvelous progress” Israel has made considering the short time “and the tremendous difficulties in the country’s defense and in the integration of immigrants.”
