Hitler’s recent blood purge hastened von Hindenburg’s death, is the opinion of Capt. Robert Boyman, of this city, former German imperial army officer. Von Hindenburg, he felt, had found the Hitler assassinations so abhorrent that the shock hastened his death.
Seizing up the Reichpresident’s death for propaganda purposes, the local chapter of the Friends of New Germany held a rally in the Auditorium. Black crepe hung over a huge swastika and German national flags, and a few words of tribute were given to von Hindenburg’s memory.
Henry Klohe, head of the Friends’ chapter in Cincinnati, and George Froboese, local secretary, denounced Jews for “spreading lies about Germany” and lauded Hitler.
