A bill permitting German aliens now in this country, whose passports are about to expire, to reside in the United States an additional two years, was introduced in the House of Representatives yesterday by Congressman Sol Bloom, of New York.
“There are many Germans here under special classification,” Congressman Bloom said in explanation of his bill. “This group consists principally of students, business representatives, research workers and others. Many of these people, because of their race or political affiliations, fear to return to their own country while it is under the Hitler regime.
“I introduced this bill to give such people a haven of refuge for two more years. By that time, it is hoped by all civilized people, Germany will come to its senses and the Hitler terror will be a thing of the past.”
