Louis M. Bloomfield, lawyer, author and philanthropist, received the Histadrut Humanitarian Award at a dinner here attended by 600 leaders of the Canadian Jewish community. Mr. Bloomfield was the fifth Canadian to receive the award
The sum of $168,775 toward the 1967 Israel Histadrut campaign in Montreal was raised following an appeal by Dr. Sol Stein, executive director of the National Committee for Labor Israel. Allan Bronfman, president of the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University, and Gershon Avner, Israeli Ambassador to Canada, were among the principal speakers. The award is a bronze plaque.
