Nearly 250 college students who are members of B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundations on 127 campuses will open their annual, eight-day summer institute at Camp B’nai B’rith here tomorrow to discuss a series of issues vital to college youth, especially in the United States. In addition to American colleges and universities, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the University of London will also be represented.
Among the issues on the agenda will be the question whether Jewish theology needs revision to attract and hold Jewish intellectuals; an inquiry into whether American Jewry is being splintered along religious lines or losing its sense of identity with other Jews around the world; and whether participation in the civil rights movement is relevant to Jewish tradition.
Today, 400 participants from North America and Britain concluded the annual meeting here of Aleph Zadik Aleph, the teenage boys’ division of the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, and the B’nai B’rith Girls. Larry Cohen, of San Francisco, was elected president of Aleph Zadik Aleph; while Susan Wilen, of Atlanta, was chosen president of the girls’ group.
