Maurice Bisgyer, national secretary of the B’nai B’rith, today announced that the B’nai B’rith membership now numbers 214,018, organized in more than twelve hundred lodges, auxiliaries and youth chapters. The men’s lodges had 139,552 members at the beginning of this year, including 15,000 in the armed forces. The women’s auxiliaries had about 50,000 members. The gain during 1944 in the men’s lodges and women’s auxiliaries was 32,000.
The Metropolitan Council of the B’nai B’rith will receive a citation tomorrow from the U.S. Treasury Department for selling over $29,000,000 worth of bonds in the 6th War Loan Drive. The Council represents sixty B’nai B’rith lodges and auxiliaries in the New York area.
