More than 1,500 Cincinnatians attended a gala initiation of 327 candidates into Cincinnati Lodge No. 4 of B’nai B’rith in honor of Alfred M. Cohen, international president of the order.
Edwin J. Schanfarber, Columbus attorney and national chairman of the membership campaign committee, presented President Cohen with a hand-wrought, engraved menorah in behalf of the seven American B’nai B’rith district grand lodges.
Louis J. Borinstein, president of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and national chairman of the B’nai B’rith wider scope committee, was principal speaker of the evening. He lauded President Cohen, and pleaded for general support of the order. William Hyman, president of Cincinnati Lodge presided.
