The B’nai B’rith International Council called on the Soviet Union last night to “end global defamation of the Jewish people and coercion of Soviet Jews to collaborate in this vicious campaign.” Citing what it labeled an increasingly reactionary Jewish policy motivated by domestic political considerations, the Council called for the restoration of Jewish religious and cultural institutions, fair representation of Jews and Judaism in Soviet textbooks, and the ending of anti-Jewish discrimination in education and employment.
