B’nai B’rith International praised the United Nations’ intent to send a mission to investigate weapons smuggling at the Lebanese-Syrian border. The U.N. Security Council on Wednesday backed Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s intention, stated in a letter last week, to send an exploratory delegation in light of “serious concern at mounting information by Israel and another state of illegal movements of arms.” B’nai B’rith said in a statement that a delegation it sent last week to meet with Ban raised this concern and pressed for efforts to release Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, Israeli soldiers kidnapped by Hezbollah in July.
