Saul Joftes, educational director of the New England regional office of the Anti-Defamation League, has been appointed the first director of the B’nai B’rith European office, it was announced here today by Frank Goldman, president of B’nai B’rith. The organization is opening the European office with the assistance of the Anti-Defamation League.
The new European office which will be located in Paris will serve B’nai B’rith lodges in Copenhagen, Denmark; Amsterdam and The Hague, Holland; Zurich and Basle, Switzerland; Paris and Nice, France; Stockholm, Sweden; Prague, Czechoslovakia; Budapest, Hungary; and the District Grand Lodge of Great Britain and Ireland which represents 10 lodges in their programs and membership.
“The office will also place at the disposal of the Jewish communities overseas such techniques of community organization as may be desired,” the announcement said. “Such activities will include Jewish youth work both in universities and among the employed, the fight against anti-Semitism, vocational guidance, community service, the struggle for Jewish unity, aid to Israel, and other programs which have long characterized B’nai B’rith in the United States.”
