For “signal achievement in the furtherance of hemispheric solidarity,” President Miguel Aleman of Mexico was presented, at a banquet here tonight, with a B’nai B’rith citation as the 1951 “Man of the Year.” The award was the first to be granted by the organization to any head of a state out side of the United States. It was presented by David Blumberg, of Los Angeles, a Vice-President of B’nai B’rith.
President Aleman expressed his “deep appreciation for the way in which you have acknowledged the word I have been undertaking on behalf of the people of Mexico.” The award was conferred in recognition of President Aleman’s untiring efforts to strengthen cordial relations between Mexico and the United States.
