“The hand that rocks the cradle is molding the affairs of American Jewish organizational life,” Label A. Katz, president of B’nai B’rith, today told 200 teenage girls attending the 16th annual convention of B’nai B’rith girls here.

“The traditional influence of the woman in the Jewish home in shaping Jewish attitudes of her family has now been expanded to Jewish communal life with the growth in stature and importance of Jewish women’s organizations,” he said. “With this responsibility, comes an obligation for young Jewish women to steep themselves in Jewish knowledge so that they will be able to serve effectively as members and leaders.”

“Young Jewish women,” he stressed, “should ask themselves what it is they want to contribute to Jewish life. Then once having found the answer they should participate as fully as they can in Jewish organizational activities so that they will be prepared to take over leadership roles of Jewish communal affairs as mature women.”
