Yosef Almogi, chairman of the World Zionist Organization, has urged B’nai B’rith to join the WZO as a full member. Speaking at B’nai B’rith’s annual convention here, Almogi said the Jewish fraternal organization was already a member of the Zionist movement by its “deeds” if not officially.
He praised the organization’s decision to devote this year’s convention to aliya and absorption “Immigration is actually the question of the continued survival of the people of Israel,” he said. “Our problems in Israel are more of a demographic nature than a geographic one.” Almogi said he believed that even in Western countries there was a large potential of immigrants and Israel should prepare itself accordingly for their absorption.
