Congregation B’nai Jeshurun’s celebration of its 110th anniversary was brought to a close last night with a banquet and dance in the ballroom of the community center of the congregation, 257 West Eighty-eighth street.
The principal speakers scheduled were Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, Charles H. Tuttle, president of the Greater New York Interfaith Committee; Joseph T. Ryan, representing the Catholic Archdiocese of New York; Dr. Israel Goldstein, present minister, and Sol M. Stroock.
Greetings were received from President Roosevelt, Governor Lehman, Mayor LaGuardia, Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler. Bishop William T. Manning and Dr. Judah L. Magnes.
At the 110th anniversary Sabbath, Saturday morning, the leading congregations of the city were represented. The sermon was delivered by Rabbi Samuel H. Goldenson of Temple Emanu-El.
Judge Irving Lehman headed a delegation from Temple Emanu-El, West End Synagogue, Ansche Chesed, Shaare Zedek, Kehillath Israel, Ocean Parkway Jewish Center, Hebrew Tabernacle of Washington Heights and other congregations.
