A plea for continued United States Government economic support of Israel was voiced here last night by Judge Nathaniel S. Rothenberg, national president of Bnai Zion, the Zionist fraternal order, in an address to the opening session of its 48th annual convention. More than 500 delegates from a dozen states are at the parley.
Judge Rothenberg further urged intensification of the organization’s efforts to aid Israel through its foundation and these settlements which it has established in the Jewish State. He also asked that Bnai Zion members keep up their support of the Jewish National Fund, citing the fact that the organization has the largest per capita contribution record to JNF in this country.
Brig. S. L. A. Marshall, United States Army historian in Europe during World War II, who was in Israel on an historical project at the time of the Sinai operation, told the delegates that the Israeli campaign was “fully justified” and that it came after “more than sufficient provocation.” Gen. Marshall, who is currently chief editorial writer of the Detroit News, lauded the “courage and capacity” of the Israeli people.
