A resolution reaffirming the four-point program of economic aid to Israel, entailing support of the United Jewish Appeal, purchase of Israeli bonds, private investments in Israel and backing of Israel’s request for a U.S. grant-in-aid of $150,000,000, was adopted here today at the concluding session of the 42nd annual convention of the Bnai Zion fraternal order. Dr. Jacob L. Steinberg, of New York, was re-elected national president of the order.
A total of $1,700,000 was raised in behalf of Israel by members of Bnai Zion in the three years since the establishment of the Jewish state, it was reported at the convention, which was attended by more than 300 delegates from 16 states. The convention was addressed by former U.S. Ambassador to Israel, James G. McDonald; Louis Lipsky chairman of the American Zionist Council; Dr. Harris H. Levine, president of the Jewish National Fund of America and others.
