Members of Bnai Zion raised more than $250,000 last year for various Israel programs it was announced here last night at the opening session of the three-day 45th annual convention of the fraternal Zionist organizations. More than 500 delegates from various parts of the country are attending the parley.
It was also reported that the organization’s membership had increased 11 percent during the past year. Plans were outlined for a campaign to raise $100,000 for two agricultural settlements established by Bnai Zion in Israel–Kfar Bnai Zion and Talmei Zvi.
The accomplishments of the organization in aiding Israel causes and in spreading its fraternal ideals in the American Jewish community were praised at a dinner here tonight by grandmaster Louis K. Bleeker, Dr. Harris J. Levine, Jewish National Fund president and onetime grandmaster of Bnai Zion, Mendel Fisher, executive director of JNF and executive member of Bnai Zion, and other leaders.
