A charter for B’nai B’rith’s third lodge in South America has been granted to a group of prominent Jewish citizens in Rio de Janeiro. The other two are located in Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.
The Rio de Janeiro group numbers 27, but expects soon to expand to 50. Installation ceremonies will take place in the near future.
D. Leo Seligmann has been elected president; Eduardo Horowitz, vice president; Irving Sandbank, treasurer; Guilherme Krausz, secretary; and Dr. Isaiah Raffalovich, monitor.
In his report to the recent annual meeting of the Executive Committee of the Order, President Alfred M. Cchen revealed that a new B’nai B’rith lodge will soon to organized in Mexico City. At present there are no B’nai B’rith lodges in Mexico.
