A bomb threat was telephoned this afternoon to a midtown Manhattan building which houses a number of Jewish organizations. The police reported that no bomb was found after a search by a bomb squad of several floors of the building which houses the Jewish organizations. The building was emptied on police orders at 1:10 p.m. and personnel were permitted to return at 4 p.m.
The building houses the offices of the National Jewish Welfare Board, the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, the International Conference of Jewish Communal Service, the Association of Jewish Center Workers and the American Jewish Society for Service. A spokesman for the JWB said the threat was not the first telephoned to Jewish organizations in the building.
