Jews will be allowed 12 ounces of wine weekly for Sabbath ceremonial purposes, it was understood today in connection with the recent introduction of prohibition. Wine permits will be issued by the Commissioner of Excise upon applications hearing the recommendation of a person approved for that purpose by the Bombay Government.

Similar allotments will be permitted for wedding and circumcision ceremonies, it was indicated. Purchase of wine for special festivals, such as Passover, will require separate permits to be issued by the Commissioner on the same basis as for the ceremonial occasions.
