The West German Government has proposed an interim payment of 75,000,000 marks in three years against frozen Jewish accounts in German banks, Dr. Giora Josephtal, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, reported here today on his return from consultations in Paris. Only after three years, he said, would it be possible to agree on the sum of the global payment.

There is no agreement yet on heirless Jewish property in West Berlin, Dr. Josephtal said, but a proposal is expected from the West Berlin Senate of a payment of 13,5 million marks which would have to be used for the purchase of equipment in West Berlin. The amount would be put at the disposal of the Israel reparations mission in Germany which would pay an equivalent amount to the Jewish organizations participating in the heirless Jewish property settlement.
