The West German Cabinet, at a secret session, recently fixed the amount which West Germany will contribute to an Austrian Government fund for the payment of compensation to Austrian victims of the Nazi era, it was reported here today.
While the amount was a tightly guarded secret, diplomatic sources here estimated that the West German contribution will be about $60, 000, 000. It was also reported that the West German Government had proposed as dates for final negotiations with Austria on the terms of the Bonn contribution either the 12th and 13th of June or the first days of July.
Austrian parties agreed in March, 15 years after Austria received its independence, on terms of the bill to provide some compensation to the surviving victims of nazism. The measure was made contingent on a West German contribution to a proposed fund for such payments.
