The Jewish Publication Society, at its recent 90th annual meeting here, announced the establishment of a national book distribution program. The program, called the JPS Community Trust, has been designed to make books of Jewish interest available to a variety of communal institutions such as hospitals, new community centers, homes for the aged, apartment houses for the elderly, Hillel organizations, college Jewish study programs, university libraries, comps and Israeli institutions.
Prof. A. Leon Levin, outgoing president of JPS, said in announcing the creation of the Trust that it would help the JPS fulfill its chartered goals: “It is our responsibility to provide significant, worthwhile and informative books of Jewish content in the English language so that Jewish religion, history, literature and culture will be read,” he said.
