The $100,000 Boston campaign for the settlement of German Jewish refugees in Palestine and for the Keren Hayesod Jewish Foundation Fund will be definitely launched with three dinners scheduled to be held here next week.
The compaign, which was originally launched on December. 17 and postponed because of the citywide emergency campaign, will be supported by a number of local Jewish organizations, including the B’nai B’rith United Brotherhoods, Federation of Polish Jews, the Zionist Districts, Independent Order B’rith Abraham, Palestine Society, Poale Zion, Young Judea, the Y. M. H. A.’s of Boston, and many of the leading local synagogues.
The first of the three dinners will be held February 26, at the Hotel Touraine. A bench and bar dinner will be held on the follwoing evening at the Hotel Parker, with Judge lewis Goldberg heading the sponsoring committee. On Thursday night, Mrach 1, a medical and dental dinner will be held at the Hotel Parker. Dr. Hyman Morrison heads the sponsoring committee. Maurice Samuel and Liuetenant Governor Gaspar Bacon are among those scheduled to speak.
Many leading women’s groups are also aiding in the campaign, with the definite aim of raising $20,000 for the support of 250 German Jewish children in Palestine. A thousand women volunteers are expected to comb every district of greater Boston in house-to-house canvass which will start March 1.
The drive is headed by three chairmen, Judge Francis S. Wyner, Dr. Leon S. Medalia and Jacob Raibowitz. Other officers include Samuel B. Finkel, Dr. Frances Burnce, Jacob Rabinowitz and Mrs. Augusta Katz.
