Government circles here were today giving attention to a letter from a group of Boston physicians to President Truman asking him to order the “immediate expulsion” from this country of Dr. Walter P. Schreiber, chief medical officer of the Nazi army in World War II, who is currently assigned to the U.S. Air Force School of Aviation Medicine in Texas.
The physicians’ letter to the President, made public this week-end, included a digest of testimony given at the Nuremberg Was Crimes Trials implicating Dr. Schreiber in the “medical experiments” carried out by Nazi doctors and scientists on concentration camp prisoners at Dachau, Buchenwald, Ravensbrueck and elsewhere. The physicians said they appealed to the President only after a three-months exchange of correspondence with Major General Henry G. Armstrong, Surgeon General of the Air Force, had failed to bring action.
