The Vaad Hair, representing forty synagogues in Greater Boston and Brookline, voiced its protest against “mushroom synagogues” and converting public halls and theatres into places of worship for the High Holidays in a special resolution passed at a meeting held here. Deeply concerned with the moral effect of making a farce of the Holy Days, it urges the community to support the synagogues and temples, whose work is solely religious and spiritual, and to help to disband the private ventures whose returns are solely personal profits.
