A call for the boycotting of Alexander Kipnis, Jewish artist who appeared in the Wagnerian Festival at Beyreuth, is made editorially today by the London Jewish Chronicle, influential Anglo-Jewish publication. Kipnis is expected here shortly to begin a concert tour in England.

Kipnis, although a Jew, participated in the Beyreuth festival, while many non-Jewish musicians refused to perform in Germany as long as present conditions continue.

The Chronicle dismisses the fear that the public might retaliate against Jewish artists because, it declares, Germany has mixed art and politics and those who wish to remain clean must keep away.

Similarly the Chronicle in its editorial urged the boycotting of the pianist Backhaus who is soon to appear in England. Backhaus has identified himself openly with the Nazi regime.

Several hundred Jewish doctors German Jewish refugees, are now in England, the Chronicle estimates. Many are destitute and unable to continue in their professions. Some are studying in order to take an English degree which will enable them to practice in England or one of the British Dominions. Among the refugees is the well known cancer researcher, Dr. Frankel, for whom an appointment has been secured at the Westminster Hospital.
