Brandeis University announced today a gift of $250, 000 from Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hiatt of Worcester, Mass, to assure the continued growth of the University’s Jacob Hiatt Institute in Israel, which the couple initially underwrote in 1961. The program provides Brandeis students with an opportunity for study and field work in Israel.
The Institute, staffed by Brandeis faculty members and Israeli teachers with American training, offers six-month study courses in Israel. Participating students live in Jerusalem. The first Hiatt program brought 13 students to Israel. A total of 30 students will take part in the fifth program starting next month. It is operated in conjunction with the U.S. State Department.
