Brazilian President Ernesto Geisel said yesterday that Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories was a necessity for peace in the Middle East. In an address opening the National Congress in which he discussed domestic and foreign affairs, Geisel said Brazil opposes the use of violence in international relations, including the occupation of territory by force. He also declared Brazil’s support for the Palestinian people’s claim for self-determination and sovereignty.
