Regulatory measures affecting tourists, immigrants and alien residents were adopted today by the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies.
The measures require immigrants and tourists to register with the police and report their movements about the country. All alien residents are required to obtain residence permits from the police.
A congress of police chiefs representing every State in Brazil decided to deny to Jewish immigrants entry to their respective territories on the grounds that they concentrate in cities and take up peddling. A temporary ban on all Jewish tourists was adopted by the congress.
The Chamber of Deputies is expected shortly to vote on measures embodying the police decisions.
