Orders for an intensive, country-wide search for Dr. Josef Mengele were issued here today by Milton Campos, Brazilian Minister of Justice. There was no indication from the Ministry as to whether new information might have been received that Mengele may be hiding in this country again.
Officials of the Justice Ministry, however, noted that, if Mengele has re-entered Brazil, it may be difficult to locate him. They pointed out that many Germans, possibly including some war criminals, emigrated to Brazil after the end of World War II. The postwar German immigrants have largely been integrated among hundreds of thousands of former Germans now living in various areas of Brazil.
