The establishment of closer working relationships between Brazilian and United States Jewry was urged here today by two Brazilian rabbis now in this country on a special mission. Assisted by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, parent body of Reform Judaism in the United States, they are here to study the pattern of Jewish congregational life in North America.

Speaking at a press conference, Rabbi Frederico Pinkuss, of Congregacao Israelita Paulista, Sao Paulo, and Rabbi Henrique Lemle, of the Associacao Religiosa Israelita of Rio de Janeiro, declared: “The past 15 years have been devoted to building up liberal Judaism in Brazil. Now we feel we have reached the stage where we are able to assume an active role in world Jewish affairs. We are here, therefore, to establish the necessary contacts in North America, and are hopeful that these will lead to a closer working relationship.”
