The British Government has advised King Abdullah of Transjordan not to enter into direct peace negotiations with the Israeli Government, it was learned here today.
This advice was given after reports had been received from British representatives at Cairo, Bagdad and particularly Damascus. In the light of these dispatches, the British Government concluded that if Abdullah should begin peace negotiations, he would completely isolate himself from the other Arab states and would also be seriously exposed to the risk of assassination.
