Britain and the United States announced at an international conference on Nazi gold in London the establishment of an international fund to compensate Holocaust victims and their families. The United States announced it would deposit $4 million into the fund as a down payment on a $25 million contribution. Britain said it would contribute approximately $1.7 million.
