Owing to serious juridical difficulties the British government regrets that it finds it impossible to grant preference status similar to that of the Dominions, to Palestine imports, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, the Minister of State for the Colonies, declared yesterday in the House of Commons.

The definite refusal to grant preference status to Palestine products constitutes a particular blow to the Palestine orange industry.

The Zionists and Palestine Chambers of Commerce have been endeavoring to secure exemption ever since tariffs were first imposed by Britain.
