Aliens who landed in the United Kingdom before outbreak of the war and got permission to stay for a limited period may now remain indefinitely, under an order signed by Home Secretary Sir John Anderson.
The Daily Herald, commenting on the Lublin Jewish “reservation” in Nazi Poland, declares that “any other country in the world would be ashamed to treat animals as Hitler treats his fellow men.” The paper adds: “It is Hitler and his associates, who bear the guilt for these infamies–guilt a thousand-fold blacker than that of common murderers who, in this country, we still judge worthy of death.”
