The Voice of America today gave full coverage in its overseas broadcasts to the arrest in Moscow of nine Soviet doctors. It emphasized that by his latest move “Stalin has brought home to the heart of the Soviet Union the new anti-Semitic drive which he began in Czechoslovakia with the Slansky trial.”

In its round-up of world reaction to the Radio Moscow announcement, the Voice of America quoted a source close to the French Foreign Office as stating that this was part of a longterm plan to eliminate Jews from Soviet public life which goes back to the Moscow purge trials of the ’30’s. A spokesman for the British Foreign Office, quoted by the Voice, said that the latest Moscow charges “fit neatly” into the anti-Semitic drive now under way in the Soviet satellite nations.
